Marquette, Michigan is where I have spent my last 24 years calling it my home, and over those decades, largely due to the favorable geographic location of Marquette being on the south shore of a very dark sky Lake Superior, have amassed an encyclopedic volume of immersive Michigan aurora photography and timelapse. Much of this STILL has yet to see the light of day... but will see the light in waves in 2024!
Lodging not included
We will start with an educational session based out of the gallery at LakeSuperiorPhoto Gallery/Studio - 211 South Front Street, Marquette, Michigan. During this session, we will cover:
-The apps and data I use for night sky composition planning and tracking the aurora and Milky Way
-A few key parameters of space weather data - What it means, and how to use this to increase your odds of seeing the aurora
-Processing Aurora and Milky Way Photos
-creating star trail photos
- Creating and editing a time lapse
Weather dependent, we will have a night sky photography session in the field, traveling to a local dark sky location to photograph the night sky. If the weather is uncooperative, I will determine if we still conduct a night sky session photographing architectural landmarks at night, or we will continue with a more in-depth educational session at the gallery.
Further details will be sent to participants upon registration. I hope you can join us for this jam packed one day session!
